The African American Forum at GE - Aviation is proud to announce the creation of a Greater Cincinnati African American Scholarship Fund (GCAASF) of The Greater Cincinnati Foundation (GCF). The goal of this Scholarship Fund is two-fold: first to provide a college educational opportunity for high school African American students in the Greater Cincinnati Area, and second to promote the City of Cincinnati as a place that all college graduates would aspire to work.

The GCAASF is a nonprofit fund that is managed by The Greater Cincinnati Foundation (GCF) and supported by many Cincinnati-based corporate and private donations. The Fundraising Drive occurs on an annual basis and a GCAASF Celebration will be held on May of this year. The funds raised benefit the GCAASF, which, in turn, provides college scholarships to select African-American high school seniors throughout the greater Cincinnati area. Our entire focus in creating the GCAASF is to stress the need for higher education within the African American community by creating more opportunity through scholarships and uniting the corporate community in the Greater Cincinnati area. Being mindful of the history that African Americans have been part of here in Cincinnati, we are focused on building a united community that values every individual and all perspectives.

Previous celebrations have been held at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and Xavier University Cintas Center. With the support of a number of Cincinnati-based companies, universities, and private citizens, the GCAASF received pledges well in excess of $1,000,000 over the last 10 years. GCAASF is proud to announce that we have awarded over $600,000 in scholarship dollars! After the scholarships were awarded, the remaining scholarship funds were placed in a GCF fund in order to provide future scholarships, which scholarships will serve to continue the legacy of the GCAASF's efforts by touching the lives of African American students well into the future. The vision is to have a self-sustaining fund that supports educational scholarship disbursement annually. Click here for more information on last year's celebration.
